WHY IT MATTERS

Lint builds up, quietly

Joe's plain-spoken read on why every dryer vent eventually needs attention.

Lint is combustible.

Many people are unaware that lint buildup is combustible — in the dryer connection inside the house, in the wall, all the way to the exterior exit point.

Clogged vents cost you.

A blocked vent means longer running times, hotter machines, and higher electric bills. A clear vent dries clothes faster — and your machine lasts longer.

Animals find vents too.

Pest intrusion at the exterior exit point is a common dryer vent issue in South Florida. I'll check the wall fitting, the connector, and the cap.

HOW JOE WORKS

A draft test, then a real clean

Four steps, every job. No surprises, no upselling — and if we can't safely clean it, you only pay for the inspection.

DRAFT TEST

Test the draft.

First thing on every job: a simple draft test. It tells me whether the vent is moving air the way it should — and whether we're looking at cleaning, repair, or both.

INSPECT THE PATH

Inspect the path.

I check every connection point: at the dryer, in the wall, and at the exterior cap. Whatever's interfering with airflow, I find it before the rods go in.

CLEAN END-TO-END

Clean end-to-end.

I clean from the appliance to the exit point — moving the dryer, disconnecting the vent, and running flexible rods on a power drill with a high-powered vacuum. End-to-end, not just the easy stretch.

INSPECT EXIT POINTS

Verify the exit.

If a connection or pipe is unsafe, I'll explain what needs repair or replacement. If we can't safely clean without those repairs, I charge an inspection fee only — never a cleaning charge for a job we couldn't safely complete.
